Structure for emergent change

A transformation starts with a pre-game when people realize the need to change, but no-one yet knows how. Experimenting, long-term thinking, and building the vision help to move forward.

The organization becomes serious when the top management as a whole team starts to invest in learning. They make an informed decision about adopting the new organizational design.

At the second turning point, the new structures and policies are applied, and the real work starts.

These are the essential actions for successfully adopting the chosen practices. The new culture is stabilized, when about 10 % of the organization is able to coach the new way of working.

Coaching community is the essential glue in educating the key people and shaping the organizational building blocks. The same actions are needed also for small organizations, with lightweight coaching structures.

The community is initiated by individuals of any role, from factory floor or management. Then the community needs to organize itself and learn teamwork. It becomes important by providing wisdom about the working reality to the top management.

Continuous Improvement

At some point the top management becomes serious. The community will be essential in supporting systemic improvement.

The real need for coaching

When the time is ripe, there will be structural changes, and practical problems will emerge. At this point, the key people in all roles and levels need to be able to coach the new ways of working.

Deliberately grow coaches and leaders

The coaching community is the perfect place to equip the key people with the necessary leadership and coaching skills. The learning program is ⅓ new thinking, ⅓ analyzing how ones own organization actually works, and ⅓ coaching the new ways of working.

Gosei has been leading a dozens of trainign groups through this experience, learning while working with the high priority topics. In the long term, it has proven to be effective leadership training and talent management.
